Hello everyone,

I'm new here.

I would start to say a big Thanks to Cheeseh for making thoses soooo powerfull bots (well not THAT powerfull but they are VERY good usually) ..

But, I thinked to make a super bad-ass bot named "Pain Elemental".

I'm using thoses settings actualy for him :

skill=100
aim_skill=1.0
aim_time=0.0
aim_speed=32.0

(I put AIM_speed VERY high because I am not sure what is the limit and the speed...)

But I usually found it very slow sometimes when a fast opponent (like a skulk in ns) appear and he need around 2 or 3 second to see that the skulk is here ! (without forgetting to tell you that usually he is dead after seeing it)

So I was wondering if there is any way to make him see stuff in front of him DEADLY FAST without to affect others bots ?

(I tried putting somes stuffs in his profiles... But no sucess.)

Keep up the Good Work Cheeseh! (btw, off-topic : the lastest beta build is really a huge improvement compared to 1.3. especially in co_)

Maybe I'm missing something here but I believe each bot has it's own profile and in each profile, there is a different skill setting, correct? Try increasing the aim factors to above 50 and see how that works.

Yes, it have settings in their profiles I already did this.

I tested the 50 stuff, result :

aim_skill above 50 result in a crash.
aim_time result in uber slow aim.
aim_speed make nothing more than what 32 already do.

Sandman anyway I'm asking if I can change individual setting like thoses configured into rcbot_config ...

config max_path_revs 256
config max_update_vision_revs 1024
config update_vision_time 0.01

hmm yea, maybe I should add individual configs for each bot which do the same thing as max_path_revs, max_update_vision_revs,update_vision_time etc... And those defined in the config can be the default or something, sure, it shouldn't be too difficult to add etc... I'll probably do that.

oh yeh and a re-cap and sticky, of all the new CVARs you have added with the new beta's would be welcome as well!

So does that mean that thats the maximum, or the minimum the bot will turn?

Cause if it's the minimum angle to change every frame, and its not aimed directly at a bot it wants to shoot at, it'll whip back and forth really really fast lol laugh.gif

If it's checking every single frame, wouldn't you want the aim speed on the low side? Since it's doing some odd 2138129 frames per second, you don't need a gigantic change in aiming.. Even if it was doing 20 frames per second, then it'd be reaiming 20 times, and 20 little aiming corrections would be more accurate..

Unless that is of course the maximum turning speed, and if it's set at 180? it'll aim up perfect every time, no matter where the enemy is...

I think what he was talking about was to add all the new cvar info to the first post along with the latest beta .dll.

This way, people don't have to hunt through so many pages to find the little scraps of info and what-not that are spread out through-out the beta test thread.

That would be really nice to add this.

We could make deadly bots and uber slow bots.

As for the AIM Speed : Sorry I did not understand on the first what was that meaning, so I'll put I guess 18 instead (I noticed that it didn't really changed aganything anyway) ..
