Letting ya'll know Options

There's a server in Australia called SNAFU'S CO Maps. They use RCBot, and rip off other people's names to catch attention and get visitors. Is there something you could do about it?

The steam servers already say if bots are running or not, so they should check that first!! Its in the Steam Server Searching window, I think you right click on the names of the columns and select Bots, then a B will appear on servers that run bots.

I know, but I just think it's wrong to steal other player's names.

Theres probably nothing you can do about it, any one can do it if you can change the bots names to anything you want. I don't want to put that kind of control in something which is practically impossible to control given the current architecture of how the bot is configured.

It's kinda always been left upto the server host to assign names for the bots they run on thier servers. By default, bots come with a set of random names just so the bots have names but it has always been encuraged to name the bots your self. Other bot authors, like foxbot for example, actually give the server op the option to spawn bots on the fly with any spacific name they like, even if the name was not found in the bots names list.

Now I may admit that there are quite a few players out there that would not like bots using thier names and there are some that may actually feel honored by this. If your one of the ladder then might I suggest you try to contact the server host and ask them nicely to not use your name as a bots name. I'm sure that if your respectful enough, the server op will comply with your wishes.
