i have been running these bots on 1 of my TF2 dedicated servers for the last 3 versions, and my regulars and i love them... i also love the sourcemod plugin for bot management... simple, elegant, and effective.
however i have a couple questions regarding profiles.

1. Is there a way to get the bot management system to assign profiles to the bots it adds?... like maybe by using the same names in the profiles that are used in the botnames.txt?... or something...?

2. And if so, are al the functions in the profiles section of the main page still in use? (i.e. can the profiles still be used to adjust the bot's aiming skills, etc?)

i think it would be cool to set different bots to different skill lvls and preferred class/wep and such things... then i think they would start to develop reputations among my regulars...

i imagine a couple bots that are straight up feared for their skills... "OH NO, ITS <bot name here>!!! RUN!!!!"

or the stupid one that no one wants on their team... anyhow, i was just looking for some ways to make the bots seem... well, less like bots... lol...
even if we could just adjust them to a skill lvl globally would be cool... (ala CSS bots) then they could be adjusted to match a groups skill lvl... (I gotta turn my CSS bots down a notch when its been a while... they destroy me for a while if i don't... RUSTY!!)

anyhow, like i said... some questions / ideas for the community and the almighty Cheezeh to consider... smile.gif

as always... thanks for the killer work!!

You're right. A good start could be adding chat scripts for the bots, like counter-strike pod bot. (I love watch them chat with themselves).
I've heard there are some chat scripts out there, and I think it wouldn't be so hard scripting it with sourcemod or so. But I don't want something that can cause serious perfomance hits.

I used the podbot and wished that I could shut the bots up.
They were really annoying occasionally and they loved repeating what other bots said.
thank GOD I couldn't hear them while I was alive biggrin.gif

sure they're good ideas for anyone wanting to improve the bot. But i don't have time myself. not for several months. That's why the source code is always available

sry cheezeh... my thread got off topic here. i was not looking to add any code or functionality to the bots (and i lack the coding skills to do it even if i wanted to...)
rather, i was just looking for ways to flesh out the bots a little within their existing framework and feature set... I am really just looking to access the bot profile system already in place from the bot management plugin written by tomhackers... if anything that is likely to be the place where we would need some additional coding... but i am not sure the best way to accomplish it... perhaps a small script that parses the names out of the profiles files and cross references them against the botnames.txt file... applying the appropriate profile to the bot in question... maybe... or something along those lines...

and, of course, all of this is only worth the effort if the aiming skills, etc. are still in use by the bot and not just remnants left over from older versions... that was the only thing i wanted from you cheez... just wondering if the profiles section of the rcbot main page is all current and the bot profiles still work as stated there... if so, i think all the things i have mantioned could be accomplished with relative ease using source mod...

thanx for all your great work, and on that note i have been wanting to throw you a few dollars for your work... is there a donation link somewhere? I looked around a bot, but i do not see one... if there is a way to give donations it would be my pleasure to do so... i always support development on these types of projects when oportunity allows.
