Problem with server Options

Always when i try to host a server with Steam, it always crashes the HL. Does anyone know what the **** is wrong with it?

Hard to say since you told us nothing other then your half-life is crashing.

What are you trying to install and what have you done so far?

Does the server even start up or not?

If the error is at the point of startup do you use cheating death? If so unload it and try again.

Otherwise as Sandman says, need a bit more info 1st...

i have the same problem.

I have no separate mods installed, ive installed rcbot properly set everything up and when i run steam>create server> start it holds for 5-6 seconds then gives me the old

"Half-Life Launcher has ecountered a problem and needs to close"

then dumps me onto my desktop and i cant figure a way round it.

since noone has mentioned anything about metamod..

make sure you are using the correct DLL file, i.e. not using the metamod dll on its own by writing the rcbot metamod dll file in the liblist.gam file, this won't work. you need metamod for it.

hmm but the the problem is that starting a game with metamod escapes to desktop, steam carrys on running but the game shuts down and with no error message

if you are trying to use the bot with NS 3 it won't work because of changes to ns 3 that the current bot doesnt have supported.

this goes with metamod 1.17 you will need to get a metamod version that works with ns 3 somewhere.

mmm got it fixed, the bots do work, but seriously limited i.e. waypoint problems and they cant find their triggers.

i used the metamod.dll from here worked first time.
