Connection Problems..., Verifying and downloading resources... Options

Alright, now I haven't really played on any servers other than my own in like months, and I went to go play on Grunts server, and steam hangs at "Verifying and downloading resources..."

So I went to a few different servers, and they're all doing it!

So then I uninstalled and reinstalled steam completely, and they're STILL doing it, what in the hell! Anyone know how to fix this crap before I go nuts?

...more nuts than I already am anyhow.

Have removed most of my plugins including AMXX as that was causing crash 'bout every hour, stays up for nearly 11 hours at a time now. Never any prob's with the Vigor 2600 ADSL router I use. Am pretty sure its HLDS that is the main problem as my waypointing server is just plain vanilla Steam Dedicated Server and that runs weeks on end without a single blip!
