NS crashes when I create a new game. But it runs fine when I join games. After it crashes and I start up NS again. It'll say that I can't run in OpenGL and it will run in software mode. From there I cannot change from Software Render to OpenGL until I restart the comp altogether. After restart, I can join games fine, but will crash again if I create a server.

What are you using to start the server? The steam game menu thing, or the HLDS hard-core server thing you should be using to make a server?
And if you're using the HLDS hard core thing, are you using the GUI or the command line? And if you're using the GUI, have you tried the command line? Because... well I do like some of the aspects of the GUI, the command line uses less overhead and I think is generally faster.. Also with the GUI, it can take like 5 minutes to actually start the thing up, I use the GUI at LAN parties so I have more control over whats doing what, and I can point and click on the thing, and do it all that way. I'm gonna write a program to take note of the cpu and memory usage, as well as see if I can't grab the number of players on the server and such, and log em all to a big text file or something. Of course it'll be written in VB, and I'll muck up the API calls so people can't disassemble it and do it in C for Linux, because I hate Linux just that much ![]() |
