I try to make waypoints and paths through the Marines first lift on ns_hera (but question is generic tongue.gif )

Situation:
I start with a normal WP (Blue) and a LiftButton WP (Red) in front of the lift button (x) from which I put a one-way path to a Wait-For-Lift WP (White) on the elevator.

Impressive graphics:
B---R-x------W

Result:
Still, bots don't push the button - merely waits specified 10 secs and jumps out getting hurt (poor bot wink.gif )

Q: How is the "red" WP supposed to be used?

(Tried with normal blue and seen bot push the button once or twice (out of hundreds of tests biggrin.gif , this since bots push the door button at a blue waypoints)

regards
Oden

if there are lift buttons dont use any wait for lift waypoints for a start tongue.gif (These are mainly for lifts that just move around on their own..) This is because if the bot finds a lift button waypoint it will look for a button near it and press it then wait for the lift when it presses it.

And put the lift button waypoint near the lift and near the button. It doesnt need to be right next to the button, it just needs to be visible from the lift button waypoint and make sure it is near the lift too.

does the lift waypoint have to be a bit away from the lift, because i noticed on one of the standard ns maps, that ALL well, 99% of the rcbot aliens got stuck under a lift (which was vital to that part of the map), im just wondering, because i tend to waypoint maps with very minimal ladders and lifts because i do not know how to waypoint them properly

It CANNOT be directly underneath a lift!!!

It HAS to be at a point where it is visible from the button AND at a safe place to wait for the lift to come down.

The "wait_for_lift" (white) waypoint is to be used at lifts that move when touched, NOT TO BE USED ON LIFTS WITH A BUTTON OR SWITCH!

The "lift_button" (red) waypoint is used for just that. It must be placed with-in reach of the lift button so the bots will know to hit the use key there before they can procede.

Probably not something you'd wan't to play with after all this time Cheese but would it be possible to make a few different types of "wait for lift" waypoint, for example: different amount's of time for each one so that if the lift shaft is a small one then the bot would only need a 5 second "wait for lift' waypoint before proceeding and of course longer periods of time for larger lift shafts.

dont use wait for lift waypoints for lifts that use buttons, they will do that them selves if they find the lift properly with lift button waypoints or more preferably by using "check for lift" waypoints
