Thanks to botman making a really basic bot template, I'm making my own template which will become rcbot 2.
I haven't got many solid details to write down yet, rest assured I've already wrote thousands of lines of code, but nothing to do with bots actually doing anything yet. The bot will probably support CS source, HLDM (when valve fixes the bot crash bug - soon) and SvenCoop 2 when that's out. |

So I take it, rcbot2 will be for HL2DM and a few other source based multiplayer mods? I also assume that rcbot2 will NOT be backward compatable with the origenal HL mods rcbot currently supports, correct?
Did you want ideas from us for what we would like to see rcbot2 do and/or what mods to support? And what of the origenal rcbot? Will you be continuing support or exculsively moving on to source? |

For the rcbot hl1, its going to be like my old rcbot eventually.. If you remember I did :
old bot for rocketcrowbar only then NS only (stopped support for bot above) then many mods (current -- stopped support for bots above), now HL2 (probably will stop supporting bots above unless if required to make changes for mods) Let's just say the design is a lot better than previous bots, much more OO'd etc, hardly a singleton c++ function in sight., apart from the few functions that come in useful. I'd like to see what many expect to see. To be honest you won't see much for a while. |

Were I a Brit, and better at C++, I'd go help you. But I'm a Texan, and pretty much suck at C++. So everything crapped out on all that.

Heres a first image of two bots that simply joined the game but stand there doing nothing at the moment, skitcky and sandman are honoured
also, the waypoints are back. at the moment the waypoints just load and save, I'm putting in every possible feature except bots that move at the moment. Attached image(s) |

yes and no, but no one has made a navmesh that works with HL2 plugins yet.
I am aiming to be able to select to use waypoints or nav mesh, its a feature I've already done. but the code to use them hasn't been done yet. |

I'll port it! It'll crash every 10 seconds, and when it doesn't, they wont work, but it'll have a picture of a sexy lady on it. So it all works out.

Ooh, ooh! Is there gonna be a 'camp' flag for CS:S? Such that if they hear someone coming, and they're of appropriate distance to a camp point, theyll go run over there and hide, and wait for the people to walk through, then shoot em in the damned head?
That'd be kinda funny. |
