Here is a new sc_psyko waypoint for sc4.8/4.7 (not tested for older versions, but may work?)
sc_psyko_rcw.zip ( 5.84k ) Number of downloads: 867 Map by Lemonsoda Short description: Play it. Recommend 2 bots. Bots don't do everything, player must help. Some objective, ladder & button issues. Have FUN... madmax2 Long book description (issues & tips): This map can be played solo without bots, but it's more fun with players or some AI friends. Bots are useful and help out with some of the rooms, especially the final room battle. The map is non-linear with a central hub design. When the player collects symbols a new random area (door) will open to explore. Currently, there are only 3 areas bots can complete on their own (Lava, Purple Diamond, and Wave), all other areas require player's help. With more waypointing, it's possible they could do other areas too, but i think this is good enough for now, perhaps i'll add to it later?... Bots can go to all areas of the map, but as more areas open, the longer it takes for them to go to a new area. They tend to want to clear out the previous area of all enemies before moving to the newly opened one. So, there is a couple ways to play this. If a bot is taking to long to go to the new area, go help them clear the previous room of all enemies (my preferred method, for fun), after that, one of the bots should start going to the new area. And if you go there first, they may come and help you... (if not, form a squad with 1 bot) Or, if you want to lead a bot(s), you can form a squad with the squad menu (bind "F1" "rcbot squad_menu"). This works really well when many doors are open and bots are slow to go to the new area, it should not be needed early on in the match with just a few doors open. You must be near a bot (visually) to have the bot join your squad. This will make the bot a following bot until you remove the squad, or it may cancel the squad when you die. There are certain rooms squads were useful on, it made the sun room more fun with one bot following, in the low gravity the bot would fly up with you, and if it gets stuck to the ceiling it will follow you down if in your squad. Also, once the bots see an area with enemies, they tend to keep going there until all enemies are killed, so its a good way to get them going to an area they seem to be ignoring. Then you can remove the squad, or die & cancel the squad, and at least one bot will keep going there. Squads are not needed for the final room, bots will go there on their own without delay (bots want the armor-batteries there more than anything, so they go there quickly). For most of the map 2 bots seems about right (final room was fun with 2 bots). Usually one of the 2 bots will go to the new area once previous areas are cleared of all enemies. One exception is the pumpkin area (floor door), if this door is the first door to open I suggest use only one bot until a second door gets opened, because of the tight long ladders. Because of possible collisions on ladders, I don't recommend more than 2 bots, but after more doors open, adding a 3rd bot may be ok, I didn't test this much? Note, there are many tight narrow ladders in this map, and a single bot does fairly well on most of them, but sometimes one will get stuck a while at the bottom but usually can free itself given enough time. If it is blocking where you want to go, you can try the usual methods to move it, crowbar, crouch under or on it while pushing into it, etc. As a last resort, you could try forming a squad with it to get it to back away from the ladder (this doe's work sometimes). A few more tips & problems: All item collection & button puzzles can be completed by a single player, but a few require perfect jumping or timing, such as the buttons in the Ice room just takes some practice. The Ice area is not to difficult to complete single player, but if you want better bot help in this area, for the buttons or for 2nd half, form a squad with one bot. I removed the objective wpt from the end of this area because bots were to slow on the ice path on their own, but a bot will go there & help if in your squad. (bots are very slow at pressing buttons here, 2 bots in your squad may help with buttons here, but you alone will likely be faster) Bots are not waypointed to do everything, a player must do some things to complete the map. Bots are not waypointed to do most high up things, like the high cloud button in cloud room, the 2 high buttons in the second slime room, the tree button in tree room, collecting the rain drops in the pumpkin room, etc. If you seem to be missing a bot, check for a stuck bot at the bottom corner of the first ladder going to the cloud room, wpt fix there does not work well and they seem to be looking at the high up button there, standing & crouching on the bot will free it. Check the ceiling of the low gravity sun room, but this rarely happens now. Bots can do the jumps in the slime & lava rooms quite well now (almost perfect), but sometimes get distracted by dropped weapons (sc4.8 only, not an issue with sc4.7 bots), and go for them. Took forever to wpt these jumps, because they have to be nearly perfect at it, or the dropped weapons will become a major problem for the bots in areas like this... |
