Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has the old waypoint files anywhere - none of them seem to be archived anywhere I have looked. I'm really looking for'ard to playing it again, even with bots! Thanks for your time! |

Hi
Checked my back-ups, guess all I have are the wpts that came with rcbot. Ancient's site quit working a long time ago . I never did download 1.0f, I have older versions of BG. Maybe someone has them??? |

3ddeath was asking for help with waypoints too... I did download BG 1.0f a while back, but did not get to installing it, or looking at the waypoints... Sorry it has taken so long, but my time has been somewhat limited the last few months (for waypointing). Are you just using the stock waypoints that came with rcbot, or do you know of some other rcw's that need fixing for BG 1.0f ?
Give me download links to any rcw's that you know of, that I should look at ??? |

Hey there,
I am actually trying to get RCbot running with BG1 and am having trouble getting it going at all (which is odd, because I had it going on a previous computer). I'd like to waypoint for it as well. I wish I could find all the BG1 maps I used to have. There was one called Castle_X I believe that I'd want to waypoint. |

Are you trying to install this version, RCbot for Natural Selections on the main files page? http://rcbot.bots-united.com/files.htm This dll, http://rcbot.bots-united.com/downloads/rcb.../rcbot_beta.zip I think that would be the correct one to use... I think the support for BG is still in the Svencoop 4.8 package, but not sure if there would be issues? If you don't get it going, i'll see if I can install it myself, got some other stuff to do today... |

Thank you for the links, the second link had the file I needed!
I was able to get RCBOT running with The Battlegrounds by installing RCBOT directly inside The Battlegrounds directory, then I put the DLL you linked to into RCBOT/DLLs and then updated the The Battlegrounds Liblist.gam to point to it (gamedll "/rcbot/dlls/rcbot.dll"). Now the game no longer crashes when I load a map from the menu! I need to learn how to waypoint now.... any chance you could direct me to the appropriate documentation? Seems like all I need to do is use console commands (which would be really ideal because I could just bind them), is that so? |

Sorry for late reply, my PC has been freezing up / crashing, so i've been trying to fix it this weekend,
might be the main board? Yes, you can use key binds , plus rcbot has a very useful menu to fill in the gaps in your binds. Yeah, waypointing info is scattered about in the forums. My binds are in the middle of this post, which also has some useful rcbot cheats for waypointing... That topic is mostly about ladders, not sure if BG has ladders? http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index....ost&p=12645 |

Something I noted is that after adding basic waypoints to BG_Frostlake, only some bots attempt to leave spawn. 3-4 american bots on a team of 5 will usually escape spawn but only 1 or 2 of the british (or less) attempt to leave the starting area. I've tried reducing the number of points leading out, or increasing, but behavior doesn't seem to change. Any suggestions? Also, do you know anything about modifying bot behavior? I'd like to encourage the bots to prioritize melee attacks more but & to crouch less but I'm not sure how I can tweak their behaviors. |

You may need to place some objective/EOL waypoints on any goals or capture areas to get them moving better. At least one at each end of the map, say if it was a capture the flag type map, or if there are not any goals, but for the teams to move towards the other end of the map, etc...
You will find it in the waypoint menu CODE rcbot waypoint_menu or you should be able to bind it, something like CODE rcbot waypoint objective If that doesn't work try rcbot help or waypoint help in the console to get the correct syntax I can't check it right now, I've uninstalled my graphics card drivers for testing my PC problems... Off hand I can't think of anything to adjust the crouching behavior, except maybe they are catching on things, so some path cleanup/removal or adjust waypoint positions to prevent that??? melee weapons would be in the bot_weapons.ini , I don't think BG weapons are in there by default , but might get added the first time the game is run, perhaps? You would probably need to increase the priority on melee weapons, and perhaps decrease it for other weapons. Can be a bit tricky, not sure if it would work for melee weapons to well?? |

So I am back at this again.
First issue: Whenever I start the game with RCbots installed, I have to rebind all my keys and settings. Secondarily, The melee weapons in RCbots are the same as the ranged weapons - melee is a secondary attack. Is there any way to get the bots to close in with the enemy and use secondary attacks or will it all just behave the same way? (secondary attack is a bayonet thrust) |

Binds should be "remembered" in the mod (bg) config.cfg. I'm not sure why that would happen , except check to be sure unbindall is not getting executed in another cfg (autoexec.cfg or userconfig.cfg ?)(it's ok to be in the config.cfg at the top).
I use a binds cfg file to store my binds (wptsrcbotnew.cfg). Exec it in the console once and the binds are remembered. CODE rcbot waypoint on rcbot pathwaypoint on bind "INS" "rcbot waypoint add" bind "DEL" "rcbot waypoint delete" bind "END" "rcbot waypoint save" bind "HOME" "rcbot waypoint load" bind "F1" "rcbot squad_menu" bind "F2" "rcbot waypoint_menu" bind "PGUP" "rcbot pathwaypoint create1" bind "PGDN" "rcbot pathwaypoint create2" bind "[" "rcbot pathwaypoint remove1" bind "]" "rcbot pathwaypoint remove2" bind "-" "rcbot bot_menu" bind "F3" "rcbot waypoint info" bind "F5" "exec wptsrcbotnew.cfg" bind "f9" "rcbot util notarget_mode" bind "f8" "rcbot util godmode" bind "f10" "rcbot util notouch" bind "\" "rcbot util noclip_mode" ## bind "f11" "rcbot util explo 300" This may overwrite a couple things, but I mostly used unbound keys. This will turn on waypoints and pathways. After executed the first time just press f5 the next time you want to edit waypoints. f11 is mainly for svencoop, it may crash other mods, so I disabled it. For secondary bayonet, you probably can't make them close to use it, but you might be able to get them to use it sometimes if it is in the bot_weapons.ini? Try setting the primary fire of the weapon to some minimum distance, 64 may be to low? Not sure this will work but maybe something like this: CODE primaryfire=1 primary_min_range=64 primary_max_range=4096 secondaryfire=1 secondary_min_range=0 secondary_max_range=64 is_melee=0 |
