I enjoy playing with RCBots on DOD:S, I do. But there's one really annoying thing about them on DOD:S that makes them so... weird.
The fact they lay down before shooting almost every single time. Even if it's up close and personal, instead of hip firing they just try to lay down then shoot, which eventually gets them killed before they can even hit the floor. Even when I read the logs, I see a couple people join the server and chat how 'bad' they are. I personally don't think they're bad, they just always lay down before firing. Is there any possible way to change this? |

Go to your profiles folder found at....
....\rcbot2\profiles then edit their profiles to something like this... # Bot Profile id = 1 : generated by RCBot2 Launcher name = allies1 visionticks_clients = 2 visionticks = 40 pathticks = 40 braveness = 99 aimskill = 10 sensitivity = 10 team = 2 class = 0 They won't go prone too much now as the braveness setting makes them more aggressive. Bot Profile guide... http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1763 Also use the speedup sm plugin, it kinda makes them more realistic once that running and makes them as fast as the human players or even faster if you like...and the annoying proning thing is almost gone. http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1833 |

I do use the speed up plugin and I matched them with player speed, which fixed some of it, changed their general skill and it fixed some of it, hopefully braveness should work. |

Anyway, fired up the old laptop and checked the code. There's a small bug which lets bots prone if the have a gun that needs to be deployed (e.g machine gun) and they will prone more often with that and may unprone as there was something missing in the code. I've fixed that now. But I've also added a little thing to make bots 'learn' when best to prone. I tried it out, didn't see them prone as much and the rounds were going much quicker in dod_avalanche, mainly the axis winning though... Going to try to add more stuff soon, especially crouching for cover then uncrouching etc.. |

Hey Cheeseh,
Sounds cool , having bots learn when to prone. Yeah, I've been seeing the mg's prone & stand & prone again, like they sometimes have trouble getting set in to the prone position. It's not all the time, it may have to do with them seeing an enemy, going prone, then they can't see the enemy, so they stand up again, repeat, etc... I haven't noticed excessive proning with any other classes, with my profiles turned up. Crouching for cover sounds interesting, doe's that mean they will be able to see low cover in front of them & will crouch under fire? I see them duck around corners to reload, which is cool... New laptop, early Christmas present to yourself? Nice... max |
