NS 2.0 Servers running rcbot, Who has them & what are you running?

(there are some exceptions like hackers and exploiters that are beyond my control) Since my IP is dynamic, I use a DNS service. Server IP is: killerz.dns2go.com:27016 TheSandbox Marine Training Facility 12 players NS 2.01 (final) HLDS 4.1.1.0c (WON) Windows xp home, P4 3.06ghz HT, 1gb DDR266, 1.5Mb / 384Kb ADSL All of the following plugins have been rigerlessly tested and abused on my server and have been deamed stable for above mentioned enviernment. Most of them can be found at http://modns.org Serverdoc (always current "free" version) Metamod 1.17 AMXmod 0.9.4 Rcbot 1.3 (1 alien always available) Whichbot 0.86 (auto balance enabled) Unstuck pro 1.0.0 Lerklift 1.0.1 Phase-eq 1.0.2 Selfweld 1.2.4 Audio tracking 1.0.1 Chat veriables (unknown version) Eweld 1.24 (currently disabled) MedArmory 1.0.1 JetPackHeavy 1.0.0 (currently disabled) UmbraSpawn 1.0.2 Pra "prasite remove" 2.1.0 Rspore 2.0.1 OnosBlocker 2.0.0 CCwall 1.0.1 MarineBleed 1.00 Factorylimit 4.0.0.1 (currently disabled) StructureHealth 1.0.1 NOTICE, this server has a nuke plugin for AMXmod that can only be used by admins. It will kill only players with a fancy lights and sounds show (does not harm structures) but will cause players using D3D acceleration to crash. Please use openGL mode on this server. Thank you. Server is up almost every day, but once in a while it crashes and I don't realize it for about a day.

You can use serverdoc on hlds 4111. Simply add

CODE

-console

to serverdoc's hlds run line.

Or you could try another auto restart app that I have used in the past. It's called Auto Restart by Eric Holt. But same thing here. You have to add

CODE

-console

to run line.

No kidding! With those plugins, even the newbiest of alien's will NEVER lose. I'm sorry, I think the the alien team was seriously dominant before but with that rspores plugin, the marines simply don't have a snowballs chance in hell.

One thing I did notice dopot, your server restarted doring a round on ns_veil with only 2 players and the bot playing. You may have a plugin or two conflicting with the bots. Check it out.

heh... someone (me) was away for 4 days, and server crashed, ServerDoc didn't reset the server because the error message was preventing hlds.exe from closing (yah i have a win32 server), even after I added the -console in the serverdoc run line. grrr... yah sorry about that, but it's up and running now. I found some cool new plugins for amx mod, but that means I had to upgrade to amx 0.9.6j, and i can never get admin to work with that version grr

A lot of people have been complaining about the readyroom blocker (you can't F4 out of a game, and they don't like it)... but otherwise, everyone loves the server

BTW, change your name to disclude brackets, I can't quote you proporly

Ok, this is easy enough to fix. I believe this works for both WinXP and Win2K. Open your control panel and dubble click the "system" icon. Click the advanced tab and click on the error reporting button on the bottom.

Select "Disable error reporting" and remove the check from "But notify me when critical error occur", then click OK. Serverdoc is now free to do the job it was ment to do

Good News: Lotsa more people join. Bad News: I can't play on my own server now without lagging the crap outta everyone I don't know why it happens, I have a DUAL P4... grrr)

Ping booster, equipment store, umbra spawn and phase select I know for a fact are bad news for bots as they will cause your bot server to crash. And there is a bad bug in that terrut limit plugin. You can't build terruts in ns_caged anywhere. I didn't stick around long enough to play any other maps.

PS: Why CD required on a bot server? Maybe should try CD optional?

As for turret limit plugin, I like it because i HATE HATE HATE turret farmers... but you're right. I haven't tried ns_caged, but I DO KNOW the first time you step in the comm chair on ANY map and build a TF, you won't be able to place turrets until you get out and hop back in. ...and Ping Booster is GREAT for servers, I'd hate to see it go In the past week, the server only crashed twice; once while I was in there trying to add bots. So, I haven't seen too many problems. But, thanks for any links in advance.

You can check Foxbot forums for all the issues that was found using ping boosters at http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~foxbot/forum/news.php. I agree with you about terrut farmers, I dislike it as well but it makes more sence to ban these tactics from your server by kicking and banning those commanders. Nurfing features farther with plugins that were already nurfed by the mod maker just makes things worse imo. Now as far as equipment store, umbra spawn and phase select, these plugins I have tried on my server, as well as a few others, and found them to be the cause of many relentless crashes.

I have heard of interboost before. Its a windows application that messes around with you TCP/IP settings to set them more optimally. Personally I prefer http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks and DrTCP although nothing really helps UDP (such as HL online gaming)
