Ok first off , New member here and I love the Bot program ! Was using the Sourcemod bots(props to Dog !) and he posted on the DODS fourms to look at these bots. They are a lot funner to play with for sure ! Is there a way to donate for all of this hard work ? Well on to my problem. I run a few Dedicated Day of Defeat source servers and installed the RCbots2 on them. They work great for the most part. My problem is when the server goes empty of real players I get this "punting bot server is hibernating" . They are still there but they all change class's and then run around in spawn,lost. They somehow loose the waypoints they had with the class change. Anybody else had this problem. a fix maybe ?

Try disabling hibernate
sv_hibernate_when_empty 0


The bots dont know about this so when you rejoin most likely the original dod:s bots have taken over

Thanks for the fast reply Cheeseh. Your command fixed the bots going into hibernatetion. But the bots changing class and then running around in spawn is the same. Looking into the logs I also see they leave the server and then reenter. then change classes. The server is a new setup so they old bots are not on it. Just the rcbots.I also have sourcemod and metamad installed so I am going to try and make a new server with out that to see if they still do this. Will report back.

1) did they work ok before hibernation ?
2) do they have bot names such as Bot001 , Bot002 and so on?
3) have you tried 'rcbot control <botname>' to check if it controls the bot correctly? (or rcbotd if dedicated)

yes they where working fine before. Yes when the server gets empty it says bot 001 changed name to ... bot 002 changed name to ... then when they all have names it says they are,one by one, changing class. but I figured out somewhat what is causing it(running around in spawn). the SMAC plugins was causeing them to all loose there waypoints.If I move all of the SMAC stuff to disabled they they still do the change name and class stuff but if I reconnect they spawn and play normal.

New question. How can we get the bots to auto join. I am typing in rcbot config max_bots 20 on a server restart but would like them to just join unattended.

use min_bots

e.g. rcbot config min_bots 10 , will ensure 10 bots minimum will join the game without needing extra players, but will not allow any more than 10 normal players if max players is 20

good to see you in here Ranger ! I am under the name Blondknight in the Alliedmodders and the dods fourms. Everything runs good on my end now as I found two plugins that was causing me headachs. The game dont like SMAC at all. It will run with it but I have to leave one of my steam accounts in the game 24/7. Like I said before , if I leave and no other players are ingame they all leave the server,reneter,change names, change class, then run around lost in spawn. I remove SMAC alltoghter and all is fine. Also they dont like any class restrict plugins(in the team manager plugin). As for the bots joining at a map change all is fine there as well. what I am looking for is if the server goes down and my restart script restarts it there are no bots untill i see its empty and then type the rcbot command. I have both rcbot config min_bots 10 and rcbot config max_bots 20 in my server.config,autoexe.bat, and the rcbot config. none will start them if the server restarts. again during map changes all is well.

what i tested out is that there is no change to start bots without a player on it. so i think there is no change to start with running bots on the server. (maybe the guys here can change something in rcbots2?)

and "sv_hibernate_when_empty" ist not a cvar for dods at all.

on my testserver i had not problem with SMAC. i dont use all plugins so maybe one of them causes your problems!

ADD BOTS AFTER MAP START

PREVENT SHOWING SV CHEATS IN CHAT

Ok Ranger I shut down the server and then restarted it. When I got in there was already 3 bots in the server ! all german but at least there was some already there. so then I filled the server with the rcbot config max_bots 20 command and it does not say anything about changing sv_cheats on as the bots enter. Nice job !

with rcbotd addbot 1,2 or 3 you could choose the team as i remember. try it.

or use a teambalancer, as i do. smile.gif

and i thinkd DODHOOKS causes problems with the bots too. so dont use a plugin with dodhooks.

found a problem!

when the last player leaves the server and sometimes later an fresh new player joins, the bots are stupid.

after mapchange the do normal then.
