I wanted to know if you can make rcbot work on mvsm mod for ns
i have the mod on listen server with rcbot

when i create the bot they join the first (blue) team only. so i join the second (red) team(which is actually 3rd team i think)

the problems are:

1. even if i'm in second team the bots on first team dose not shoot at me. they just come close to me and say "i'm in position".

2. the bots join the red team(again it's 3rd team) after a round or so, but they remain frozen.

These are the problems i see.

i just wondered if it could be made possible.

in console

you can add a map specific config and add it to the mapname.cfg in map configs folder then ns/

or if you always run mvm or ava maps you can put it in the config ini

but there is still a problem...... (sorry)

when i'm red the blue bots attack (good! biggrin.gif )

but the red bots are still frozen not doing anything...... sad.gif

I think it has something to do with red marines being in team 3 instead of team 2..
but not sure....

it would be great if you fixed it so the red marine bots are not frozen

I don't know, thing is I'm not supporting these maps directly.

and I don't have the time right now I have much more important stuff to get on with. maybe in a few weeks.

Well firstly I try to help a friend to put a server on smile.gif We try to get them join the red team but we can't :/

We have tried the config abnormal_game 1 in bot_config.ini and in mapconfig. and tried max_bots 10 and min_bots 10 and then into the mapconfig tried rcbot addbot, or rcbot addbot 1, rcbot addbot 3...even rcbot addbot 2 and the bots dont join the red team.

I waypointed one map already to him...and before I do anything else I would like to know can MvM even work with RCBot. It would be so much fun to have it work.

I can beta-test if it is needed wink.gif wink.gif

Hello Cheeseh,
I too am very intrested in the MvM mode with RCbots, i can bots to join both sides but the red bots do not attack. I can very easily waypoint maps and most of the MvM maps are very easy to waypoint as they dont have ladders or many objects in the way.

The main problem i am having is that its very hard to get the bots to join the red team even with abnormal_game 1 some maps accept bots on red, some maps dont. The blue bots works perfect, they follow waypoints etc...but red does not. Although i know you are working on RCbots in your spare time and everyone is very greatful but would you consider supporting them? i am a software development but i am not familar that well on C++ so cannot code it myself.

I am sure it wouldnt take long for someone with your skills to add support for MvM as the only difference between what you got already (MvA) and what alot of users would like to support (MvM) is the team name and color.

Because of this, it would take very little coding to support another team. Possible either add another section which handles / checks mvm name in the maps_config folder, if it returns to be true (mvm map type found), then run a little module of code which can then run Blue (which is already built-in) and run Red team which is currently not supported.

Not sure if you can simple run a little bit of code which adds support for red team or whether you have to completly copy and paste the marine code again but into anothe module called red team, either way shouldnt take long with your knowledge of rcbot.

If you could do that alot of people including myself would be very greatful and it would be a shame to see MvM maps being unsupported and MvM maps are far simpler to play on and develop on compared to the previous way (MvA).

So please support MvM...we beg of you...

to cheesah and whoever reads this thread.

some info to cheesah, i learned trough mapping mvsm maps that the blue marine is on team 1 and red marine is on team 3

like wise on avsa maps first alien is on team2 and second alien is on team 4

i hope this info helps u...... i guess what u have to do is code rcbot so that it supports team 3 and 4 in ns.... (sorry not a coder so if i'm wrong plz forgive me)

some info to readers of this thread:

fellow players
cheesah has declared that he dose not know and very busy, and he will work on mvm issue soon as possible.
so do not push him so much....

also to coders
if any coders know how to fix this plz do so....

I could take a look but only version 1.38 is in source, version 1.441 is not in source yet so i dont really want to work with an older copy as i know there has been alot of improvements made.

There are a few things i could try to get it working but i am no pro so it probly wont work. I will have a try with 1.38 source code on sunday and will get back to you, if the code works then it can be ported over to 1.441, if it doesnt work then we are no better off.

I hope cheesah doesnt mind if i look at the source and see if i can do something, i know the source code is released but i always like to let the developer know i am looking into it.

As i said before though, i am not all to familar with the syntax in C++ but i am sure i can use the other languages i know to help understand C++ as they are all similar in a way.

I wanted to ask cheesah if he could support mvm as it would probly be quicker for him to code it but i understand that cheesah is using his spare time on other areas of RCbot.

I will keep everyone posted if i make any progress but dont get your hopes up.

I dont know if changing the team numbers will help. I the team numbers differ I think they will fight each other, I can't remember how I did it. I need to have a look again.

And the latest source is always updated, just haven't updated the thing that says which version it is.

Ok thanks for the quick reply Cheeseh. I will see what i can do. I currently have a MvM bot server with just the blue team (team 1) so anything i can do to help whether thats testing or development, i am here.

I will have a look at the code Sunday to see what can be done and i will get back to you.

Also thanks for letting me know about the source code, i would of never of known that otherwise, at least if a fix is found or if any work is done i am in the safe knowledge that its on the latest version smile.gif

maybe you just need to update the StartGame() function for abnormal_game 1... i.e.

jointeamtwo could be changed to jointeamthree as ockhul said, but I don't know if that command exists but you could try.

1 hour ago we stopped testing the bot with Venom. It seems to work now very good on MvM. Yes..Venom fixed the bot to work with MvM! biggrin.gif

I think Venom will maybe PM you Cheeseh wink.gif

I think this is great news because THIS has been waited and I think there will be alot of players on his server smile.gif

Yeah, i simply changed the code a little, didnt add anything, just editted it, so to make it work for MvM. It doesnt work for AvA or MvA it may take some coding to get it to work for every game mode, but anyone who wants to run RCbot in MvM only, just let me know and i will give you the .dll file. I would like to see if i can get MvM and MvA support but i will need a bit of time in order to do that.

I think there should be another commanded added to the map_config file something like mvmmode = 1 to let RCbot know that its an MvM map do load Marines and Marine instead of MvA.

Thats what i am planning on doing, also Cheeseh, because certain rules apply in MvM mode, how can i disable GL as GL in a MvM match is too powerful. So i need to disable it, i couldnt understand how it gets the upgrades it was something like 1<<Random_Long 0,2 i presume its something like choose one number between and including 0 to 2 but i dont know how to disable GL and just have shotguns and HMG.

Any help on this would be great, i will work more on the bots this Friday or Sunday.

i've been waiting for this since i've got rcbots installed on my listen server!!!!

well since i last posted i was trying to learn how to use visual basic c++

,but i'm a poor boy who had microsoft studio beta which has expired......

sad.gif

oh well

and the reason i want the bots so much is because i don't always have internet...

oh yeah venom is there anyway that i can get my hands on the mvm compatible rcbot dll of urs?

i don't know if this helps ur mvm map detecting problem, but the ns and allinone

plugin checks for the ns_, co_, mvm_ on the name of the map to see if it is a

combat, classic, or marine vs marine map....

The problem is not getting the bots to join a team, its getting them to move. Currently the blue team moves as they should but the red team doesnt move or do anything. This is the problem we have been having but i have fixed this for the moment.

I just need to spend a few hours on tidying it up.
