Heyyo,
Heh, Good news Sandman, I figured it out after cremating some braincells. Check how I waypointed both elevators. Bots tend to be able to use them both pretty nicely to go up. But they do have probs detecting the elevator with the "wait for lift" as it seems to trigger the lift as "there" if the lift even touches the waypoint. Cheesh, you should make it so it only decides that the lift is there if it touches like, half the height of the elevator from the bottom to the middle or something like that, or implement a "wait for lift to stop" flag that makes it so bots will only go to that waypoint if any kindof lift isn't moving but just stationary. Check it out Sandman and anyother avid waypointers. Note how I used the "check for lift" waypoint there at the top. It's on its own, not attached to anyother waypoint (probably why it failed to work before..). Anywho, here's the attached waypoints. Attached File(s) case1.rcw ( 8.53k ) Number of downloads: 21 |

The real problem with the lifts are the ones that don't auto-reset and the ones that don't kill whatevers under them. The bots can't determine its location. If you can get the bot to follow the path for the lift going up, and the lift is already up, they'll stand under the lift and let it come down on them and smack 'em in the head, then the lift goes back up. They run out and hit the button again, the lift comes back down, nails them in the head, and the process loops. Basically all I do for lifts now, they're only ways down. If possible, I make wallsticks around it so lerks and skulks can get up, but the reliability to get bots to go up the lifts is just so horrible that I try to get rid of up paths.
Now touch-sensitive auto-resetting kill-anything-under-it lifts.. those are sexy. |

Heyyo,
Yes, that's a prob indeed which's why I suggested an upgrade on the wait for lift stuff. It's already good for going down lifts, but not going up.. Another thing I notice is after a small waiting time, bots ignore the "wait for lift" flag n' go there.. this seems to be a bug. |

I to have tried just about every waypoint configuration possable and the success rate of the bots ability to actually use the lift and go up is poor at best. Sometimes it works out fine either way IF the lift is at the bottom but rarely ever works if the lift is at the top and they are at the bottom.
For the bots to actualy use a lift properly, they NEED to know where the lift is. Almost as if they actually see it's placement and can track it's movement. Without being able to know where the lift actually is, there is no way the bots can use a lift reliably. Now if these mappers would simplify these lifts so that there is a 1 second delay once they touch it and it resets after they get off, then waypointing lifts would be possable. But unfortunatly, mappers only make lifts like that in HLDM and TFC. |
