The very latest beta update to the Source Dedicated Server seems to have broken RCBOT2, the server no longer fires up when I have the HPB_bot2.vdf in the addons directory, but as soon as I remove it, the server boots up and runs OK.

For information, these are the changes made in the latest beta Source Dedicated Server, Source Engine, Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch:

- Added sv_pure 2. When set, then pure_server_whitelist.txt is ignored
and all content files must come from Steam
- Changed ent_fire to only be useable from the host client on a listen
server

- Changed soundscape_flush to only be useable from the dedicated server
console or the listen server host
- Added sv_allow_wait_command. If set to 0, then clients can't use
"wait"
- Added sv_allow_color_correction. If set to 0, then clients can't use
mat_colorcorrection
- Fixed player count bugs in serverbrowser
- Added "findflags" console command, which can list all cvars with a
specified flag
- Fixed a bug with sv_minrate and sv_maxrate not applying properly on
the client
- Cheat protected the following commands:
r_TransitionSensitivity, mat_bloomamount_rate,
mat_debug_process_halfscreen, mat_debug_autoexposure, mat_force_bloom,
mat_debug_bloom, mem_force_flush, mod_forcedata,
mod_test_not_available, mod_test_mesh_not_available,
mod_test_verts_not_available, mod_load_mesh_async, mod_load_anims_async,
mod_load_vcollide_async, mod_trace_load, mod_lock_mdls_on_load,
mat_leafvis, mat_debug, mat_surfaceid, mat_surfacemat, flush, r_entity,
r_ambientfraction, lightcache_maxmiss, r_avglight, mat_debugalttab,
mat_showlightmappage, mat_bumpbasis, showbudget, showbudget_texture,
showbudget_texture_global, mat_hdroverbrightrange, mat_debugdepth,
r_modellodscale, m_pitch


Any ideas on if this can be resolved? Early days yet I know, but running the beta gives us a forewarning of what will be coming in the next Source Update.

I can't really tell what is causing it until I can test it myself. I've updated the source dedicated server myself just there but I don't know if the HLDS Update tool updates to beta versions, anyway I'm going to try it and get back. ASAP!!! biggrin.gif

welll I updated the server now guess waht, it CRASHES! AAAAAARGH!

It crashes inside the damn server code, not the bot code so obviously something is crappy with the server it doesnt like something, it doesn't even get to the first line of any of my damned code!!! I also updated my source SDK files and rebuilt it... no luck

and Valve never help me sad.gif I need to hold them by the throat for once and get my revenge! sad.gif sad.gif


out of interest have you tried anyh other server plugins for the new dedicated server??? I want to see if its just because its trying to load my plugin or any plugin it decides to quit

Hi Cheeseh, I run 4 servers, two with your rcbot2, they all have Mani Admin (Metamod Source version) and Matties Eventscripts running.

I only updated to the latest beta on one server, so that I could try it, and it was one that was runing rcbot2.

With rcbot2 enabled the server would not even fire up. As soon as I removed the .vdf file for rcbot2 from the addons directory. Then the server fired up OK with Mani and ES running too, and all showing in the dedicated server console.

After posting about this before, I have since discovered a further problem in that with this latest beta, I cannot now connnect to the running server from my client!!

In frustration I removed the beta version and used hldsupdate to put it back to normal, which now runs again with all plugins and rcbot2, and I can now join the server from my client.

I will try this again tonight when the servers are quiet. In the meantime if you have any ideas or you test yours again, please post any results. Thanks
