For some reason, Rcbot won't detect any bot profiles, and when using the launcher to automatically set sv_cheats to 1, it won't work. It only spawns "dead" rcbots that refuse to move. Reinstalling Rcbot with the installer does nothing, as the old settings are still there. I've reinstalled and tried things over and over.

One thing I tried:Try to find where Rcbot is installed (Users/(Username here) and (D or C:/Rcbot), delete it, run the installer again.

Games used with Rcbot:Team Fortress 2.

Hi Taberone,

Welcome to the RCbot forums... smile.gif

I don't think it's a profiles problem or sv_cheats, here's why:

Without any profiles, bots will still move & shoot...

If sv_cheats = 0, then bots won't even join...

But it sounds like the bots are not finding a waypoint for the map you want to play, they won't move if there is no waypoint. OR they can't locate the waypoints folder? Or the rcbot2 folder is in the wrong place, I can still spawn rcbots manually, after setting sv_cheats 1, if I move my rcbot2 folder to another location, but they don't move...

I haven't tried to use the launcher & auto sv_cheats in a while, so it is possible there is a problem there? Maybe I'll test that later today? But it sounds like you have an install problem other than sv_cheats, since the bots do join.

I'm guessing you are using windows 7 and rcbot2 0.76? For a client/listenserver (NOT dedicated) install, the rcbot2 folder should be in something like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\rcbot2 (WinXP)

or

C:\Users\Username\rcbot2 (Win7)

In either case, the waypoints path should be this for tf2...

...\rcbot2\waypoints\team fortress 2\tf (it should reflect the same path as your TF2 install)
[edit] (ie. You might need to change "team fortress 2" to "orangebox" if you installed TF2 from dvd instead of steam)

Hope this helps...

I got to run now, but will check back in a couple hours... wink.gif

[edit] Oh, maybe post your config.ini from the rcbot2 folder, if you can't get it working, and everything is in the correct location...

Those 2 files are primarily used for dedicated servers. There should also be a "config.ini" in the same folder (...\rcbot2\config). If it is missing, then something is not right with your install?

If you are using the launcher, be sure to use the save config button, at least once before launching the first time, and each time you make any changes in the launcher. Also, make sure under the general tab, the TF2 PlayerRunCommand offset is set, i believe it is still 417 for windows.

Take a look at this topic, it's for 0.72, but the install info is still good... I'm assuming you are installing on to steam TF2? And you want to play solo one PC (Not dedicated)...

http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index....ost&p=11491

If you want to try a manual install, instead of the installer, here is are some step by step instructions:

It's for winXP, If you have win7, just substitute 'users' for 'documents and settings' folders... It's also for DoDs, so you will need to change the folder names, Day of Defeat Source=team fortress 2 and dod=tf ...

For Steam... http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index....ost&p=11505

or

For Non-Steampipe... http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index....ost&p=11499

Hit Save Config with "auto set sv cheats to 1" and player offset is 117, still won't work.

Offset 417 may work better... Maybe thats a typo? TF2 updates frequently, much more than dod:s, so it is possible the offset has changed and the sourcemodplugins site is wrong, and hasn't updated yet. So try a few other settings such as 418 & 416, then put it back to 417 if bots don't start moving. That site has been wrong for dod:s for a long time now, and I don't have TF2, so I can't check it for you... This, or missing waypoints, are almost always the cause for bots not moving...

If it's not the offset, then more questions:

What do you mean "still won't work"? Bots don't move, or you still have no config.ini file in the \rcbot2\config folder? Please be more detailed...

1. What is the path to your rcbot2 folder? It should contain 5 sub-folders... There should be a config.ini in the config folder... there should be a waypoints folder with sub-folders to your tf waypoints...

2. Are you installing this on steam or nosteam TF2?

3. What version of rcbot2 installer are you using, 0.76?

4. The latest installers have no problems i'm aware of. Are you launching with the RCbot2 launcher, if not, how?

I had to make a lot of guesses as to your setup, please confirm them, win7, path info, etc...

If it's not the offset, Post your Console output and your config.ini please...

I won't have a lot of time to respond the next few days, so perhaps someone else will help before then. The installer/launcher is fairly bullet proof now, so I can't figure what could be going wrong, it must be something you are doing wrong, so we need more details to help you... wink.gif

Rcbot saves the config to D:/Rcbot instead of C:/Users, so I moved the files to C:/Users/(My username)/Rcbot, merged the folders and all the files inside, and RCbots seem to work now, judging by how sv_cheats was automatically set on.

Oh, okay, maybe there is a small bug in the installer with 2 hard drives? YuriFR had a simular problem I believe... got your PM too... wink.gif
