After you've been spraying healspray for 3 seconds, you're out of adrenaline anyways, and you'll spit once like every 5 seconds... Gorges aren't really suited for battle, if anything else have an if statement like...

CODE
void healHive()
{
 if (bot->adrenalineLevel < whatever-it-takes-to-spray-healspray)
   {look around;}
 else
   {look at hive;}
}

Or you know.. however good programmers do it... I suck at C++ still tongue.gif

that ought to do it...

CODE

if ( NS_AmountOfEnergy() > 45 )
{
m_CurrentLookTask = BOT_LOOK_TASK_FACE_TASK_EDICT;

if ( RANDOM_LONG(0,100) < 50 )
 PrimaryAttack();
}
else
m_CurrentLookTask = BOT_LOOK_TASK_LOOK_AROUND;

So, that'd take care of the looking-at-the-stuff-while healing thing, is there any way to curtail the standing-too-far-away-from-stuff-to-heal thing? I mean on combat maps all we'd have to do is change the waypoint setup from somethin like...

CODE
    hive

O----------O

to something like...

CODE
     hive
      O
    /   \
  /       \
O-----------O

and if they successfully do shuffle their little gorge legs over to the nearest waypoint, theyd have a place to heal from... unless we can do what Popsicle/Grunt said, and come up with a hive flag... well... erg!

I've seen them not heal structures/bots/players/whatever too, not just hives... they'll hang out around the general area of what they wanna heal, then spray until the target is fully healed, but won't actually heal the stuff... I think you need to implement the weld code for aliens ::poke poke:: biggrin.gif

Ooh ooh! Could you implement both things, the flag for hives, since they're in precarious positions above bot-heads and may not be the easiest for bots to reach, and also the weld code so they'll go to whatever it is they want to heal, then stare at it and heal it...

And is there like a check for the bots, if you do the "Need Healing" voice thing as an alien... would a bot gorge come heal you? I just remember off hand people screaming "STUPID BOT COME HEAL ME!" and then the die, and I laugh, cause I'm evil like that laugh.gif

About healing - healing is like shooting with HP, so you need to be in range, and have an aim ;-)
Gorges shoud heal hives non-stop to the point where they are hurt. If shot, gorges should run (and cover) and spit until it's safe. Then they should get back to hive. Simple for me ;-)

Well. see, something like this can not be handled by waypoints and here is why.

Everything placed with-in the map doring game play is an entity, an entity that is almost never in the same place twice exept CC and marine start res. Everything else added doring game play is getting placed completely at random, including the hives.

Combat maps are the only exeption but I see no reason for adding new waypoints for a different style of playing the same mod. I personally think that gorges should be removed from combat mode all together because the gorge is not a combat class.

well, if we got a 2 layer building here with the hive situated something like this (cross section from the side)...

CODE
       HIVE
______

____________

you could put waypoints with the "hive" flag in such positions...

CODE
       HIVE
_____O_

________O____

and instead of looking for any waypoint near the hive, look for the closest "hive" flagged waypoint near the hive, then run to one of those waypoints, and heal from there.. or something

see what I mean.... doing hives is more complex than simple ammo dispensers, there are usually not holes under ammo disspeners and ammo dispers don't usually float in general biggrin.gif I'll add more checks in sometime (If you tell me the map I can check it out btw)

oh my wow this is amazing
/me give a round of applaus to Cheeseh
All this fuss about NS.. what about us svencoop fans eh?!
I like the bot cam and the pushable waypoints are good can we get some SC updated waypoints and stuff like getting bots to use the pushable box near the cargo elevator to get to the lever.

And Are you planning to implement the tank waypoint?

Only when they have nothing else to do, you have a medic call anyway. If they see you they will heal you.

I second that.

Prof. BallsKnocker, what are you talking about? The waypoints for NS 3.0b4 are allready, long since done. Check the waypoints board.
