Dunno wat to say really other than thanks cheeseh. More fixes than a mechanic on overtime this last few days...
![]() Clam' had just fixed whichbot this week, and I was beginning to think the 'rine bots would be losing everytime in combat, but boy was I wrong! No-one can believe the marines are bots until they check the ping, with RcBot heavies toting Nades and adopting the rain of death in the aliens hive. Haven't seen god invunrability either, other than the bots tend to adopt a tactic of spawn killing quite readily. I love the voice greeting you have added, any chance of some cvars to be able to choose the wavs used instead of a random choice as well. What I would really like is the possibility of being able to assign my own voice wavs with greetings i have recorded my self? : ![]() Any chance you could also have a look now at a couple of other things as well. The bots building a spawn portal when they 1st join as marines in NS regular, as its soon game over its Bot vs Bot or no humans on the marine team. I know Sandman has brought this subject up, but that thread has gone quiet lately. Also, (and I know this will take some time) getting the bots to take the CC as well - PLEASE. Have been watching rine combat game play and the only thing amiss at the moment appears to be although they pick up jetpacks, they dont seem to be aware that they have one. Little putt-putts emitting from the jet pack occaisionally when I suppose they are jumping to avoid being chomped...

The only thing I've noticed, aside from the marines are very VERY tough on CO maps .....mmmmm... real practice...
![]() I had a bot coming after me, got a shotgun, then a HMG, and then went and got a grenade launcher... and then proceded to kill me and 2 of my friends twice each... very humbling I should say ![]() But either way, it should pick a final weapon it wants and then go get that instead of wasting points... they're hard ta get ya know? And the aliens.. well they're pretty screwed lol ![]() And I still have yet to see one go onos ![]() |

I only tested twice, but with 7 marine bots in each game, i never saw one getting jp or ha... Am I unlucky or is the probability to see one really small ?

It's because they cost 2 points instead of 1 and they upgrade like crazy so they run out of points.

Well.. I'll post another metamod test file for you:D
This time I got skulk wall sticking done, they do it quite well now ![]() Also : got marines to only get the weapon they want (not get hmg then genade or grenade then hmg) and they don't upgrade to armor 3 until they get a jetpack or heavry armor if they want it. The alien evolving is the the way it should be now, but haven't seen an onos, I think they spend too much of their points, I added a little thing that might help but haven't tested yet. PS: I've updated the source with the latest stuff. more recent file later.. keep lookin'! |

I've got an Idea - let's make 10 or more soldier and alien FINAL Forms- bot's would choose 1 of them randomly at start of round and then upgrade just what it takes to be a FINAL form. They wouldn't waste points and be even harder to beat. I can post some more Final Forms soon.
For example M|Sucker: MIN(mines) 1G(guns) SG(shotgun) GL(grenade launcher) RES(ressuply) 1A(armor) 2A -(nothing) JET MT(motion tracking) M|Solderer: WLD(welder) 1A RES 2A - HA(heavy armor) 1G SG 3A SCN(scan) They would take upgrades in that order |

From what Ive seen, it's a thing of beauty when bot marines get the welder on CO maps... a com chair with 3200 health left and 3 bot marines with welders on it goes up to 10000 really quick hehe

Indeed : I never thought CO_maps were fun with bots, because I had to be marine (since being alien was a slaughter for these poor bots), and finally, as whichbot often go onos and fade, i was constantly welding, which is a bit boring after a dozen of minutes...

when my supersoldiers are on marines more often than not the only way the aliens win is due to the time limit hehe ![]() |

Hehe, my team on co_faceoff just had 3 fades, including me, and couldnt get the CC below 5000 health... thats brutal.

I copied [rcbot] folder to [rcbotold], then removed old dll's from [rcbot] and renamed NEW dll to be in place of the old ones- after that i configured bots as usually. I use metamod. If you need any more help - ask.

the marines do tend to get jet packs quite a bit now (and were regularlly owning me as an onos) but i still havnt seen a heavy walking round and i think the aliens shuld save up to skip past gorge alltogether as theyre useless at getting kills once they become a gorge. other wise great work and keep em coming

I tried to play WhichBot with RCbot. When I typed rcbot addbot, nothing came out. But Whichbot was fine.

10th post I think like the marines now have a "final weapon" theyll choose, the aliens should have the same, and then make them consider like.. Lerk = 2 points Fade = 3 points Onos = 5 points and then have them skip gorge all together, unless their final class is gorge. When you're a gorge and you don't have enough points to evolve, youre pretty much stuck like chuck. It's a defensive class, and if a bot has a HMG and youre a gorge, youre pretty much dead. It's hard to get points as a gorge... I've seen a few bots go onos now, pretty sick I must say, fun watching 2 onoses go tearing through marine spawns. ![]() I've seen bots get HMGs and jetpacks, and stay in the air raining lead down on the aliens... THAT is twisted fun hehe ![]() A few times I've seen them get heavy and a GL, thats good stuff too. Other bugs I've seen, this isn't with CO maps exclusively, it's pretty much with everything, the gorges will stand near the hive and spray healspray... but.. like never at the hive. They'll stand next to it and spray and spray and spray until the hives healed, which depending on the health of the hive can be quite a while! Lemme think of what else... ummmmmm... I've gotten the wallstick waypoints to work, thats pretty cool Cheeseh! lol Now I can get skulks to climb walls more reliably than ladders ![]() Alright, I'm gonna go eat. mmmm foooooood. |

I removed the gorges healing hives and stuff except from players, and lots more tweaks etc. I guess I should post my latest version before I sleep
![]() I've improved lerk flying. There are commands for altering lerk flying in this dll: rcbot config lerk_flap_time <float> (time flapping wings again) rcbot config lerk_hold_time <float> (time holding the jump button in when flapping) I've got them at quite good values, the lerks fly much better but still have trouble with ladders because on ladders, they jump to fly, but jumping also makes them bounce off the ladder.. I've also added more tooltips and they are more reliable. More tool tips for commanders when they go comm, my effort to help comm newbs ![]() Ps: I've noticed some skulks have trouble shooting breakables.. especially on my new fav co_ map (co_ulysses) from its nice vents the bots like, but with breakables on entrances.. sometimes they sit next to them until they break.. and sometimes they bite them to break them.. I dunno why they ignore them sometimes... About the alien evolving.. can you go from skulk straight to lerk/fade etc if you have enough resources?! win32 StandAlone debug dll... You have to go gorge to get the lerk/fade/onos classes, but what most of us do.. or what I've seen on my server anyways,
you get like.. focus, regen, and carapace as a skulk wait till you have 3 points go gorge, and heal the hive if it needs it go fade, and get liiiike.. adrenaline and anything else some people go onos with few upgrades, but its a lot easier to die as an onos.. I'll put the new DLL on soon, my servers doing a "combat day" where its just going through all the CO maps, which was just an excuse to stress the new combat aspect of the code ![]() |
