that'd be pretty cool, having them all dodgy and hard to hit happy.gif

Then people would complain that they're too tough, and I'd have to make fun of them for sucking at NS.

Ok here is something you might like biggrin.gif

I got the skulk bots to TRY and strafe & jump
Avoidance code has generally been improved (it sucked before tongue.gif)
so Marines should back off of incoming skulkies and other aliens better tongue.gif

oh yeah other things:

No more than half the alien team goes gorge in combat maps, lets some stay skulks to get resources an back up gorges.
And gorges are back to healing every alien thing that has a chunk of health missing because of this. Last time the whole team was gorge and just stayed at the hive, futily trying to heal it whilst marines kicked the crap out of it tongue.gif

and once again, source has been updated.!

FAST FORWARD TO DLL >>>> (again)

Yet another DLL before I goto sleep!

this time:

lerks only fly when they have enough energy
lerk ladder flying improved
fixed bots not shooting breakables after a new round
fixed bug with bots not choosing correct weapons (e.g. fades always attacking with swipe even when they have acid rocket)
may I also mention, the amount of gorges in combat now = gorge amount entered in rcbot config

updated the source

!fast forward >>

Wow, this looks like it's coming along very nicely cheeseh but I have just one question. Are these rcbot beta's still backward compatable with ns 2.01?

lerk flight used to cost energy in betas 1,2,3, but no longer in beta 4
NS programmers thought it was too unbalanced so now in beta 4a it costs some energy (less than before).

correct me if i am warong, this is written in the NS changelog i think

In 1, 2, and 3 lerk flight cost energy, in 4 there was a bug that made it not cost energy, then in 4a it cost energy again.

I just tested the last DLL, but it looks like i have changed something which I shouldn't, because now it crashes after a while, and I cannot see anything relevant in logs, nor does windows shows me any crash window...

That's vey strange : everything works well until a point... First it crashed since the beginning (adding too many bots at once). Then i added them one by one, but still crashes...

What kind of crash? A freeze or program quit? I have noticed a freeze, I don't know why that would happen.

Well, since it is the debug dll file, if you have a D: partition install it in the source in the same DIR as I do, when It crashes click Debug. Even if you don't have the source you can worjk out the offset in mem where it crashed by finding the crash location and subtracting it from the start address of the dll file. Then I can find the point where it crashes.

in the mean time I'll see what I added recently that might cause a crash of freeze

[edit]

Infact.. crap... There is an assertion check which probably made your program go back to windows, if you press Ignore button it should still work ok. If I gave you the release dll it wouldn't show the message. I already sorted the problem of the message appearing. Maybe I should post anohte file soon, after I sort out marine jetpacking (make them more like lerks!)

try this DLL, I removed the assertion fault thing.. Also got the marines to fly if they have enough fuel (cos I've noticewd sometimes they just keep trying to fly and run out of fuel.. and get stuck)

Added a small thing to help the jerkiness of bots when they try to avoid players when their waypoint and the place they want to go to avoid is equal length causing them to jitter on both directions, I don't know how to chose a direction ohmy.gif

The crash is likely to come from Whichbot, because when there are only RCbots, it doesn't happen. Actually, it is not a crash but only a freeze, so I can't debug it (MSVC also freezes at this point sad.gif ). I just tested without whichbots and it works.

Do RCbots hate whichbots so much t make the game crash ? biggrin.gif
