Ok ok.

Everything is more clear now. Thanks LordSkitch, Link and Sandman. I appreciate.

One thing though...

Link was right about the Pausable thing.

I changed "pausable 1" to "pausable 0" in the listenserver.cfg itself, and it DID work ! biggrin.gif

Now, the game doesn't pause or "freeze" anymore, not even for myself !

I created a Listen Server to test that. And I could even access and change any options from the Main Menu by pressing Esc, and the game would still go on in background ! smile.gif

So, now AT LEAST I got that "problem" fixed. Now I can host Listen Server with decent and more importantly constant gameplay, random-pauses-free. That alone not only makes my day, but pretty much the whole week.

As for AMX, well, I'll keep it, but I won't mess around with it anymore. It's not what I thought it could have been. Same thing goes for H-LSS.

I'll go back to some Hammer H-L 2 mapping. I need to burn up some brain cells these days laugh.gif

Ok Lyran. You said that you have the bananaphone song in use with psychosounds? Client would say "banana" and trigger this sound file to play, correct?

Ok, each client connecting to your server WILL have to download this file ( and any others ) if they are to hear them. Since psychosounds does not precash these files, you have to create .res files for every map in your servers map rotation list. I know for a fact that the bananaphone song itself is 2.25mb. This will take your clients 10 to 15 minutes to download just this one file via the standerd server file sharing method.

At this point, your going to need to use the urldownload feature to keep the wait time and bandwidth drain down to a minimum. There are services out there just for this practice in mind and are reasonably priced. This is one of those services I use on my server. URLdownload

Personally, I would use MUCH smaller/shorter doration sounds as you will very quickly find out just how much of a headache those longer sound files will cause.

I think you would be better with the AMX ready room music plugin:

It plays mp3's in the ready room, you can set the distance that it can be heard and if set high enough music will play for all clients. You can also set which tune for a particular map...

I use http download so a couple of meg mp3 doesnt take v-long to download

I agree. I run this plugin on my server. It's a little confusing to set up at first but once it's working, truely a great plugin. But again, urldownload is a must for content such as this. Otherwise, new players to your server will be waiting at least 20 minutes for the music file to download on every map that has one.

Thanks SandmanSA and Gruuunt biggrin.gif

I'll surely try the URLDownload thing, and the AMX Ready Room music plugin, eventually. And I'll let you guys know what's the results.

Peace ! biggrin.gif

Now let me get this strait, you installed rrmusic.amx on your NS server and 2/3rd's of your client's complained that it drowned out thier winamp or hlamp? blink.gif

I bet that's quite entertaining trying to give orders to marines who can't hear the orders. rolleyes.gif

More often than not I type the orders, I type like 140 wpm so it's not a huge inconvenience for me.. laugh.gif

It's always fun trying to decypher what the 14 year old high-voiced-bastards are squealing about, before muting them, and turning on some Rammstein...

140 wpm? Damn, that's pretty fast. I guess I better not get into a typing contest against you. I would loose for sure.

Still.... The ability to hear what's going on around you while the game is in progress is half the battle right there. biggrin.gif

Wheres your server man? I'm comin over. tongue.gif I want to catch some poor saps by suprize who keep dancin down the isle while listening to his/her music and can't hear me comin. laugh.gif

Hey what's up guys biggrin.gif

I just downloaded the Ready Room Music plugin for AMX Mod. I got it from that place: http://www.modns.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=755&st=0

So I create a map_music.txt file and an mp3 folder in my base directory of N-S, so that's into the ns folder itself of course, as required.

I've set the maps where I wanted the same track to play. Then I put the .mp3 track itself into the mp3 folder.

Then I needed to compile the plugin. So I placed the rmusic.sma file in the source folder, and then I tried to compile it. Doesn't work.

It shows that famous 1 Error. Press any key to continue message. And, no, it doesn't mean it works in my case. It really means that it didn't.

I searched for *.sma using Windows search engine, both HDD's, found nothing related to "rmusic" at all. So it really didn't compile, and believe me I must have tried 5 or more times. I also tried the other rmusic.sma files available in the posts after the first one.

Why can't people just post working .amx files instead plus the source for all plugins ! sad.gif

There's always...always something going wrong with me. Sometimes I think I am Dr. Freeman himself.

I need help once again...

You can open the .sma files with notepad.exe so you may edit them as you wish. Some plugins require a little edit work to be performed because they support both amx and amxx mods.

Here is a little snip for the rrmusic plugin....
CODE
* Requires NS2AMX 1.1+
*/
#define AMXX   0  // Set to 1 if you're using AMX Mod X, 0 otherwise.

#if AMXX == 1
#include <amxmodx>
#else
#include <amxmod>
#endif

#include <ns2amx>

This plugin requires ns2amx 1.1 or newer and ns2amx.inc. Also requires the user to define which type of amxmod they are using.

But because I am a nice guy, I will provide a already compiled plugin for use with amx099. It's up to you to make sure you have the ns2amx modual installed properly.

Hell yeah he really is ! laugh.gif

Dude, it works now ! biggrin.gif

I mean, the ready room plugin, it works fine !

Now all I need to do is to find a working Armory Heal with the rotating-health-pack-on-top-of-the-armory model. Because right now the one I have has no model, but heals fine. I just want the model. I'm that picky about details hehe.

Oh and, to make it so players download my Ready Room music upon joining my Server, do I have to type sv_downloadurl 1 ? Or do I have to do something else ?

Thanks guys, thanks SandmanSA !

Peace.

P.S/ Happy Christmas to everyone !
