a run problem..?

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 3 Joined: 2-February 05 Member No.: 486	RCbot is really working, the bots are attacking me when I show myself to them and all that stuff. really great bots. just one problem. when I play ns with the rcbots, ns will after 5 minutes fade to darker screen and stop. if I go ctrl-alt-del it will say "Half-Life - Not Responding". I have gone through the "Pinned forums" abnd some of the users threads, I haven't seen a solution of this problem yet. I have installed it correct (I believe); I downloaded the full version and then I updated it with 1.3. Yes, I installed it to the /halflife-folder, not /halflife/ns. I have the rcbot.dll at /halflife/rcbot/dll and all that.. my computer is fine, I've checked it for any viruses or spywares and stuff, so thats not it.. a friend of mine also has the problem, so its not just me.. HELP!

Is Half Life fully up to date via STEAM?? And not just installed from a cd copy of the STEAM Installer and never updated... The fact your mate has the same problem indicates that you might! Anyway, perhaps someone else has an idea, 'cause I am stumped ( and too tired) to know where to start on this one

This first part sounds like half-life is locking up. I assume your using NS 3.0 beta 5, correct? Are you using rcbot as stand-alone or as a metamod plugin? If your using metamod, try updating that with the latest version from http://metamod.org/.

This second part is a bit confusing. It sounds like you said that you installed rcbot 1.38 and then tried to update that with rcbot 1.3?? If i'm reading this correctly, you "updated" rcbot to the wrong version. Try reinstalling rcbot-1.38 beta - full.

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 3 Joined: 2-February 05 Member No.: 486	yes, Im using standalone (I dont know what those are, but I tried metamod first, it said I couldnt use it), and I use steam fully updated (legally version and all that stuf), and I use ns v3.0 beta 5.. I thought, since the update (1.3) was above the full installer, I needed to update it.. but I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the full version only. Edit: Ok, I reinstalled NS so that everything would be alright.. then I downloaded the rcbot-1.38 beta - full and copied the rcbot-folder into the /halflife-folder. but what now? I tried to play with them as they are now, but I couldnt get the bot menu up nor add bots.. am I not supposed to download and install the RCBOT Installer found at main page? cuz thats what I did the first time.. I downloaded the rcbot installer then I updated to the file over the rcbot installer which is called "LATEST RCBot Version 1.3 (NS/Svencoop/RC2/BC/DMC) english". and then I made a lan server and tried to play and it locked.. so can anyone tell me or give me a link to "Installing RCBOTs detail by detail" or something..? cuz I reeeaaally want to play with them at smaller LANs and stuff, but as it is now, I cant.. thanks

I think I understand what he is doing. He copies the rcbot folder to his HL directory and then tries to play without properly updating his liblist.gam file. Finding rcbot's are not working as plained, he down-grades rcbot to the old 1.3 version which of course, locks up HL because it does not support NS 3.0 beta 5.

Influence, you need to use rcbot 1.38 beta with ns 3.0 beta 5. Using rcbot 1.3 on ns 3.0 beta 5 WILL lock up your system. Just read the pinned topic that cheeseh directed you to and do as it suggests. If after reading it "word for word" and you are still unable to play with rcbots sucessfuly then I would be at a loss because I know for a fact, that is does work on my system.

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 3 Joined: 2-February 05 Member No.: 486	hehe, thanks for all help, a friend of mine helped me getting through it. it works fine now, no HL going totally locked up and stuff =) (I downloaded metamod, and then the other necessary files and now it works) :D just for the record; I thought I needed the RCbots installer, found on the main page to install the bots.. but I dont.. so why is it there? to install on other mods or something..? just wondering. and when I used that I thought I had to upgrade it with the update as it said, the update right over the rcbots installer. I didnt download the "Latest something something" since it said "beta" in it. but now I did, and it works fine. so, "thread closed", I got my help
