Your not kidding - I asked on most of the ns forums going and not one person seems to have made the compile on *nix.

I gotta admit I prefer Windows like Skitchy and Sandy, and I've said it before I do Firewall my machines - but popular uk windows servers seem to be the main target for hackers. I think most of the other high ranking servers are *nix and they seem to be up all the time, therefore I decided in my non-wisdom to head that route..
See-ing that I am not full time a server operator and have to go out and earn some pennies I thought I would be in for an easier life 'NOT'. unsure.gif

Oh well; probably best I withdraw from the bot server world and just waypoint for 'em instead. It's gotta lead to a less stessfull life... - damn I forgot I will get bored - uh huh ph34r.gif

Hey Meat_Popsicle that is BAD news. I cant believe after all the great work you put into that it was declined. I thought it was the dogs dangly bits!!

:Bugger: >> 3.1 ? blink.gif

Me thinks I am gonna go on a 'go-slow' until the 'official' map changes are errrr official... rolleyes.gif

QUOTE (Meat_Popsicle @ Mar 7 2005, 04:21 PM)
ha, i wouldn't expect anything from the dev team anymore, they seem incapable of replying to us mere mortals anymore, despite the fact were trying to contribute game content.

took them 3 and a half months to tell me my training map was declined, and the only reason they gave was for "visual considerations" dry.gif

they reckon 4 to 6 weeks and theyll be releasing 3.1 (with BUS and steam official game support is the word on the streets ph34r.gif )

Well, anymore, the only thing I do expect from the NS devs is another shooty attempt at creating more bugs. ( I ment fixes ) dry.gif And that is very disapointing that they didn't want your training map. Since the devs don't want it, mind if I have a copy? unsure.gif

So upto 6 more weeks, NS "could" be fully steam supported? I don't see why they didn't just wait. Would have made NS 3.0 all the more sweeter. Oh well, I guess there is no accounting for brains. rolleyes.gif

Heyyo,

Compared to Linux and *nix, the only thing windows has an advantage in is compatibility & popularity. That's it.

I prefer Linux myself, but until more games have native linux coding, or such, I'm stuck with darn windows..

Man, I wish I knew how to code in c++ so I could help, but I'm not too sure I can learn on me own anytime soon.. I'll try again.

no time to fix it at the moment anyway, I need to moan at them sometime to get some reaosns as to why things are broke'd.

In the meantime I'm hard at work with other stuff and also occasionaly testing the bot with svenCoop adding more features, that will be visible in NS too.

Dam... Ah well, give me motivation to finish my C++ manual so that I can take a look at some of this stuff. (I'm a mainframe analyst so it's right up my alley)

Thanks for all you've done eh Cheeseh. It's really appreciated by all the NS community.

The bots will still work in combat in NS3 since they dont need to go alien, use whichbot for alien, and they dont need orders.

Although the which bot fades are on freaking steroids. Actually most of the which bots are on some sortof performance enhancing drug tongue.gif

I went and made a compile for my test server changing the bots ladder angles to 90? to see what theyd do.. and they still went up em slow... whats that about?

I mean.. it IS 5:30 and I'm tired as crap, but I couldn't find where the bots control the go-up-ism... I found a part where it was like "make sure the bot is pushing the forward button" so even that should make em go up the ladders fast...
