Heya,

Using the new steam client/server I was able to get some interesting views of the bots looking thru their eyes, perhaps you can do this in the older client, I dono. Anyway, the bots are looking up at like 90 deg when trying to climb a ladder. I think they should be looking at 45 deg max. I'm sure the wbots don't look up this high when they try to use ladders as I had some of them running the map at the same time and observed from their eyes as well. Anyway, I dono much about this code but if you could try making the bots look slightly up rather than directly up at the sky, they might climb the ladders better.

Thanks,

Billcat

Yeah I tell them to look up at 45 deg max, or at least they should.

Im putting in new code though that will just let the bots set their angle first and stick to that angle until they reach the next waypoint, so that they dont jitter all the time.

I took some screenshots of examples of what I'm describing:

bot stack on ladder in tanith:

view from bot in same ladder:

hera botstack:

2nd view from the top bot:

It seems to me that the bot is either looking 90 deg straight or horizontal. I've never seen at bot go up a ladder at any other angles, but mebe they are thrashing so quick I just don't get to see it.

I'm not seeing that. Marines on my server lavigate ladders well enough. They jitter a lot and move pretty slow but are climbing and decending on ladders. In 3rd person mode, they look strait ahead but in first person mode, they are looking strait up and down.

Aliens on the other hand, don't do so well. The aliens aproach a ladder and never move. They just stand there and shake violently. In first person mode, you'll see that they don't look up or down at ladder waypoints, they just look strait ahead.

The aliens are looking strait up at wallstick waypoints in first person mode but in 3rd person mode, they are looking strait ahead. They don't move at these waypoints either.

Cheeseh, I hope this is giving you some ideas of what the bots are trying to do at these waypoints.

I don't understand why they are looking directly up with billcat, I told them not to look higher than 45 degrees, have you got the latest version???

Thats the latest but I thought that they only looked at max 45 degrees.

Anyway I have sorted this for next version, they will stick to one angle so they wont jitter, but I'm still having problems with it... mad.gif

If you need beta testers, I would be willing to donate my server to the cause.
