Visual Studio requires win 2000, XP or 2003 server
Cheeseh
not the IDE, only the toolkit requires it. I don't know where you could get the IDE for cheap unless you're a student

It looks like you're running Win98 or ME or something along those lines, all you need is Visual Studio 6, it's easy enough to find, and it'll run on anything from Win95a...

I can't stand that .NET crap.

Visual Studio 6 is NOT that easy to find.

Try one night on google. Yowza

eBay - visual studio 6

Theres the.. "legal" alternative, I'm sure theres "some other" way to get it, not that I would condone any thing but legal channels to get it. dry.gif I have never supported illegal acts during my administration! laugh.gif

You might also check with your computer science teachers who teach the C++ classes, theres a very good chance they can get you a copy of MSVC++ 6... which is usually more illegal than just downloading it.. They get site-licences for educational use, then give it out to all the students... I know my teachers wanted to give me a copy of it back when I was still in C++ classes rolleyes.gif

Usually, the downloaded forms of high end programs like that are in bulk licence agreements, so some guy pays $100,000 for a volume licence, instead of $300 a licence, and he can put it on as many computers as he wants... so technically, it's not even illegal to download those if you wanna take a very strict interpretation of the licence... thanks Government class.. biggrin.gif

M$ has already released the free MSVC command line compiler and the beta version of VS.net 2005 (not available for download but you can order the CD for very cheap price) and MSVC Express (available for download).

note that M$ doesn't let you release anything compiled with their beta versions.
