Hey all,

I recently had some time to play around with trying to install RCBot2 on the sourcemod, Empires. However, I've run into a problem (no surprise there). Before you say that RCBot2 doesn't support mods, could you check my installation method and see if I'm making any silly mistakes.

My error is:
QUOTE
[RCBOT] Cannot open game server interface "ServerGameDLL006" IServerGameDLL servergamedll
Failed to load plugin "../Empires/bin/HPB_Bot2"
Unable to load plugin "../Empires/bin/HPB_Bot2"

To install RCBot2, I followed the instructions at http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1374 as best as possible.

The rcbot2 folder is installed at: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\scardybob\
HPB_Bot2.dll is installed at: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\Empires\bin\
rcbot2.vdf is installed at: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\Empires\addons\ (although it didn't seem to work, because I had to use "plugin_load ../Empires/bin/HPB_Bot2" anyways).

I added the following to the "bots_mod.ini" file:
CODE
mod = CUSTOM
steamdir = sourcemods
gamedir = empires
bot = TIMCOOP

Is there something simple that I messed up, or am I simply screwed trying to install for Empires?

I know that, but I am trying to jury rig a solution similar to what Cheeseh suggested at http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1368. I'm hoping my problem is that I'm putting something in the wrong folder.

The available rcbot2 for TF2 only works with TF2 because of the TF2 engine changes , hence the servergameDLL006 Error. I will look at fixing this in the future

Go to
http://www.hl2dmpro.com/

The mod developers had made rcbot2 work with Orange Box mods.
Just download their mod's client ag2.zip.
Find the addons folder(contains Rcbot2 and waypoints) and extract it to any of your OrangeBox mods.
I tested this out with Jailbreak: Source 0.6 which uses the orangebox.
The bots seem to walk around without waypoints(work best with waypoints) and shoot at the player when shot at. But after some time, the bots begin to shoot at each other. I'm gonna test out this Rcbot2 with other mods.

UPDATE:
So far I tested this version of the RCbot2 on Jailbreak: Source, Distraction Half-Life 2, and Orion.
The bots don't attack each other right away and are unable to join in Orion because of a class system.

UPDATE:
Tested the bots on Situation Outbreak v1.61. Bots react faster. There's a Buy Weapon system, but bots obviously aren't scripted to use the system. Bots are able to shoot at other bots that are zombies, but not able to shoot zombies that are NPC's.

Wow, thanks! Here's a quick video I made of it working.

Got it to load the plugin and spawn bots. However, they don't seem able to select a weapon or fire, but its a start smile.gif Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome!
I was about to test the bots on Empires myself, but I thought they wouldn't spawn because of the class and spawn point system. Good to know that they spawn, that's a great start. Hope Cheeseh takes a look at this.

EDIT:
Did you use an admin mod to put the bots on a team?

Nope, they joined automatically.
