Damn. Everything looks pretty much the same... I don't use AMX mod though... I use AdminMod, does your server crash all the time? There might be some sort of conflict with AdminMod...

My server has known to run for well over 100 hours without crashing at a time and I have logs to prove it. But on adverage, I get about 75 hours run time before it crashes. So no, it doesn't crash a lot.

I don't like using adminmod because it still has a lot of bugs in it. Notably one that strips or changes entities for no good reason and could cause your server to crash and another that leads to a pretty big security risk. Also, adminmod has a pile of custom plugins that conflict with bots.

You may want to try stripping the adminmod plugins down to the bare minimum and see if that helps.

by the way, that "createFakeClient failed" message is nowhere in my bot source.. it may be part of whichbot or the internal code of this function..

Alrighty, I got the new DLL, and it's in place, we'll see if it fixes anything. As for the error, I flipped through some of my logs, and I haven't seen it happen again, so I dunno.

And as for the "not crashing often" part, I dunno if TFC is more stable by nature than NS, but I was talking in the 500 hours area.

Looking at my server, I need to go get new waypoints for Veil... though I thought I already got Sandman's waypoints... maybe I'm retarded and never put em in the right folders.

Alright, I'll get back to you guys!

Alright, I downloaded and used the

rcbot_mm.dll
size: 332KB
Modified: April 20, 2004 2:47:00 PM

but I think the thing actually crashes more now.

But! ...!!! I got my all my new Athlon 64 parts in, and I've gotta grind out parts of my case, and drill new holes and whatnot. And I think I might have to cut out the I/O shield, cause the one I have uses screws, and all the new ones are little snap-in plates... Either way, I'll be indesposed for a while working with metal, woo!

Ummm, OK? Are you aware that with the AMD Athlon 64, you MUST run a 64bit compatable operating system? 32bit operating systems like win2k, wnixp home and winxp pro may work but your going to have a pile of problems.

Microsoft does sell just such a beast called Windows XP 64 bit Edition which is a MUST if you have a 64 bit system. Also, just to add insult to injury, half-life, along with just about every other game out there is not 64bit compatable.

But oh well, you live and you learn, right?

Hehe, no, its not a 64 bit only chip, it runs in 32bit mode, and performs on par with p4 3.2ghz EEs.

In fact, I'm runnin normal WinXP Pro SP1 now, just got done playin NS on my server, and ... it was kind of yummy to see my FPS never drop below 99 lol

BUT! if you're wanting to run it in 64 bit mode, or.. if you want to run XP64 at all rather, you need either an Athlon 64 or a FX-5x chip to do it... I don't think Intel has any 64 bit chips out even...

and it's rather insane, after playing like an hour and a half or 2 hours on my NS server, this chip is 4 degrees above ambient temp, 80F/27C

Alrighty, I switched to AMX-mod, and the crashing still hasn't stopped. I don't know whats wrong with the freakin thing, I'll be glad to format it.

don't even bother formatting, it won't help a thing.

The power of your power supply can actually help, but I'm sure the power you have is okay.

You should give crash details everytime when it crashes, like you did in your first post. Although those crashes say that the game did NOT crash in rcbot but in NS or stuff caused by perhaps metamod plugins.

ps the real test is to run RCbot on its own, not without it.

Alright, after two half-assed crashes, it just sorta hung there for 10 minutes unresponsive, I got an actual crash. Now this is with NS and RCBot only. The event logs this as the cause
CODE
Faulting application hlds.exe, version 4.1.1.1, faulting module rcbot_mm.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00028ac8.

I dunno if you need a stack trace or whatever from VC++, if thats the case I'll install visual studio on the server and see what I can get...

bingo. now use this dll file (this is a debug file) and make metamod use this instead of rcbot_mm.dll (as it is a debug dll, I'm not sure if I change its name so it's name is HPB_Bot.dll instead...)

You might be able to get a stack trace from this dll, if not, at least try to get an "offset".

(even better if you have Visual studio, I can also give you the source too tongue.gif so you can find exact location of the crash)

Heres the latest and greatest crash, again with only RCBot running
CODE
Faulting application hlds.exe, version 4.1.1.1, faulting module hpb_bot.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0004145f.

Ever since I formatted this machine, visual studio is one of the CDs I need that I actually have found dry.gif my room is a freakin' mess. But I haven't used VC++ in a while, so you'd have to tell me how to configure it to tell me where the problem in the code is. My forte is VB, and Windows applications thereon.

One of these days I'm gonna make a front-end for RCBot to make administration centralized though! As soon as I stop being lazy... and figure out the binary stuff for reputations and whatnot wink.gif

Actually that crash info inst very helpful sad.gif I need to know in mem where the dll starts so I can workout the offset from code in the dll file.

Tell you what, download the Rcbot source (I've just updated it) from the files page. When you install your visual C, compile the "Metamod Debug" version and use the HPB_Bot.dll it makes for attaching to metamod (instead of rcbot_mm.dll).

Run HL as you do normally, if & when it crashes, click the "debug" button on the exception window, this will bring up VC and show the crappy code tongue.gif

I'm in the process of making a crappy frontend (install-uninstall-configure menus)
by the way, heres my crappy frontend so far... it doesn't actually do anything, just windows are there and I've only done the "install" stuff, which doesn't actually install anything

See if theres any useful crap in that, or if its just windows crapping all over itself again.

and I pieced this together from ultima 8, and i thought it was cool, so you all get to see this too!

Unfortunately it isn't that useful sad.gif The code it crashed in is in library code. I need to get a stack trace.
